A few years ago, Ben Brust, who had committed to Iowa, decided to transfer to Wisconsin after Todd Lickliter was let go.  Iowa did the right thing and let him transfer to any school, although Big Ten rules specifically said no transfer to an in conference school.  Fran McCaffrey did not stand in his way and wished him the best of luck even though Brust had always said the Hawkeyes were his team.

Now we have Jarrod Uthoff who redshirted and never played a game for the Badgers but is from Cedar Rapids Iowa and is wanting to leave the Badger program and transfer to Iowa, Indiana, Marquette or even look at Iowa State and what does Bo POS do?  He sets up a restricted list that Uthoff can't even look at the schools including the whole Big Ten, all of the ACC, Marquette and Iowa State.  This is like I never liked this used car salesman, he just is a giant T U R D!  Does he not understand what a hypocrite he looks like here? 

Iowa may not even get the kid (after all, if it was a choice between Iowa and Indiana in basketball we all know IU's history, plus who they have coming back) but for Ryan to put this restricted list together shows he is way petty.  And yes I read all the stories here and Ryan comes off looking petty every time.


Catfish - I don't recall bashing Shields, you know my feelings have always been focused on Lee.  However, this year, I am putting all that behind me so no Lee bashing either.  I just want to root for my teams to win, so go Red Sox, go Chiefs, go Hawkeyes, hope the Bucks make the playoffs and hope the Blues win the Stanley Cup!

Yeah the trading is crazy, our league, Con makes all those deals and it's still not working for him.  I have no qualms that my team sucks but will fight it out, long season still.  In good news, Ellsbury might not need surgery based on what I read today, so keep him, but he is brittle.  I got lucky last year that he didn't get hurt.

Yeah, Bo is getting all sorts of grief over this.  I heard he was on Mike and Mike this morning and they let him have it.  I don't know much of the particulars, but I will say that a vast majority of schools will not let players transfer to schools within their conference.

mags-ND just lost freshman 5 star athlete aaron lynch. he got homesick and wanted to go home. ND said sure but not to Florida State or Florida, who ND doesn't play. One thing is for certain, catfish, no school is going to articulate that philosophy, even if that's the way they feel.  lol  I wouldn't be shocked in the least if spite has some role in Bo's decision to block a transfer to some of the schoools with Jarrod Uthoff.  On the other hand, I'd be shocked if he actually ever admitted that in public.

Here is my take on it, if a kid wants to leave, let him go...I am the head coach and I fear no one.  Jarrod Uthoff is not Wilt Chamberlain but you might think Bo Ryan thinks he is.  I mean come on, it is like he fears Uthoff and says ooooh, if that kid transfers to a school that we play, he will hurt us.  That says Bo has no confidence in his coaching abilities or his team to me.  You think I would be scared of any kid who left my team, heck no...I would want to play him in the future and show him he made a mistake. 

Same thing with the ND kid, come on coaches, be men, this is crybaby playground stuff.  Iowa let Ben Brust out of his LOI and let him go to Wisconsin, in fact, I don't know of any kid Iowa has stopped from going anywhere.  We fear no one.  Go play for whomever you want, if you play us, we will beat you and dominate you.

Uthoff can go to any school that's not in the Big Ten.  I have no idea what Uthoff is going to do, but I bet Wisconsin hopes he makes his decision soon.  They've been shoved into the spotlight on this one.  I'm sure they'd love to have that spotlight on someone else.

The funny thing is if the kid doesn't want to be back in Iowa with the Hawkeyes, then I think he should go to Creighton...which was not on the list anyway, but given McDermott there and the other guys from last year staying, this would be a formidable team.  The other, which was a blocked school, is Marquette. 

To be honest, not sure of his abilities, but he was Mr Basketball for the state...still it's Iowa...however, in the past there have been some really good ones.  Raef Lafrentz, Kirk Hinrich, Harrison Barnes, etc.

Wilt Chamberlain

My old man actually knew Wilt the Stilt. My Dad was a football player/track runner at Missouri. Wilt chamberlain was also a long jumper at kansas as well as a basketball player and they use to compete with eachother. They even saw eachother several times since their college days. It's kinda cool

mags-he was basically saying that on espn last night. to me - go ahead and leave us in the lerch but you're not going to go where you want. it's called PAYBACK!  ryan also said he can't go to the ACC.

I'm torn on the Ron Artest incident.  Part of me says the guy doesn't have enough of a functioning brain for it to be pre-meditated.  The other part?  Well, he certainly looked like he meant to do it. 

Whether or not he's suspended is not the debate.  It's just a question of how many games.  If I were him, this would be my strategy.  I am, officially, Meta World Peace.  Meta World Peace is not a repeat offender.  Give me a fine and let's move on. David Stern might view it somewhat differently.
