AKRON, Ohio -- Former No. 1 overall draft pick Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals was carried off the field Thursday night after suffering an apparent leg injury on the bases in Double A Harrisburg's game against Akron.

Harper, who signed for $9.9 million after being made the No. 1 pick in 2010, was probably going to score from first on a long single when he pulled up just short of third base and hopped safely to the bag. Two team members carried him off the field, his leg fully extended, and into the clubhouse.

The injury wasn't immediately identified, and a Harrisburg official at the game declined to say when it would be. In the press box, speculation centered on a hamstring or ankle injury, with a hamstring issue thought to be the most likely -- as well as the least severe -- issue.

Harper is the second No. 1 overall pick of the Nationals to suffer an injury one year after being drafted. Pitcher Stephen Strasburg, the top pick in 2009, suffered an arm injury in 2010.

Harper is hitting .254/.324/.397 in 36 games at Harrisburg after starting the season at Single A Hagerstown, where he hit .318/.423/.554 with 14 home runs and 19 stolen bases in 72 games.

And you, at 18, without a 9.9 million dollar contract, were humble and respectful to everyone.

A good point, but even in comparison to his own age group, without a doubt, Bryce is the least respectful and humble of them all, which puts him in the running for least respectful and biggest jackhole worldwide.

We'll have to see if he gets things going. In the minors he hasn't hit lefties or with RISP. Actually he hasn't really hit with anyone on.

Ha, a Longhorn fan talking about someone being confident and not cocky. That's funny.
Says a Jets fan lmao.

Listen homers, the dislike for Mr. Bryce has nothing to do with obvious talent, his huge contract, or any of those things.  There are plenty of guys who fit that decription, and in general they are univeraslly loved as superstars.

He is disliked because he is an insufferable, egotistical, anti-social, arrogant, brat.  THis guy's antics make LeBron look like humble guy.  You know the old saying in football, when you score act like you have been to the endzone before and that you will be there again?  Well this kids is the living embodiment of the opposite of that concept.  A punk is a punk, no two ways about it.

Now, that being said, I don't wish significant injury on the young man nor do I wish him and ill-will, but neither will I shed and sympathy nor will I be sending him a get-well card.  There are consequences to pissing everybody off - alwasy have been always will be.  Maybe instead of attacking people for being people, realize that the Bryce is the problem, not the fans.

I hope for his sake he grows up.

I wish Bryce Harper well in his career.   But with a .256 BA in AA ball,  he cannot afford to be too confident let alone cocky.    He has a lot of work to do before he evev smells AAA.    The lack of education, as well as the influence of his father,  accounts for  the lack of humility
