Best 10 players in NBA history
So it got me thinking. Who ARE the best 10 players in NBA history? Here's my list, in chronological order:
Bill Russell.
Wilt Chamberlain.
Oscar Robertson.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Earvin "Magic" Johnson.
Larry Bird.
Michael Jordan.
Shaquille O'Neal.
Kobe Bean Bryant.
LeBron James.
I left out Elgin Baylor and Jerry West, but do you really think those guys are any better than Dwyane Wade? Whom I also left out? If this list went to 11, you'd see Pete Maravich's name. If it went to 12? Elvin Hayes. To 13? No clue. I only feel strongly about those 12.

Best 10 players in NBA historyYou're having a terrible week dude....first this silly list, then the silly twenty free throws from Lebron prediction, then getting punked by Lebron at the post game presser, and now you're getting clowned by Whitlock of all people! Too funny :) Lebron is not a top ten all time player, not even close. I can appreciate outside the box thinking but not to the point of absurdity. In ten years things may change but there is a lot of work to be done. Besides, as you pointed out to Lebron himself, he continues to melt in the big moments. Shaq isn't top ten all time either and Dwyane Wade, Pete Maravich and Elvin Hayes aren't just outside looking in. |

Best 10 players in NBA historyIt's always interesting hearing people's ideas on lists like this. There have been so many great NBA players that it creates so many ways people can view this. To make my lists not only do you have to have championships, great stats, BUT you have to have the ability to play defense on a different level AND you must have the ability to make your teammates better players.....there are some really great players who can only make themselves great. Lastly, you can't being playing RIGHT now to make my top ten...Bryant and James wouldn't make it anyhow. Here is mine in order
1. Russel 2. Jordan 3. Magic 4. Bird 5. Big O 6. Cousy 7. Kareem 8. Shaq Diesel 9. Isiah 10. Hondo okay okay I know I have 4 Celtics on there so two that I feel probably should be mentioned Walt and Dave Bing. Its all a matter of opinion |

Best 10 players in NBA historyI'm a Celtic fan but for Brix whatever to say Kobe has never been able to dominate a game? Dude has 5 rings and dropped 82 on a team....you are a dope and they should take away your posting privileges...unless of course that dishrag from Colorado was your sister. Then, I guess your idiocy is forgivable. Somewhat.

Best 10 players in NBA historyGiven the eras they succeeded in, yes, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor are better than Dwyane Wade. LeBron James doesn't deserve to be on this list because he doesn't have a title. Even if he wins one, he doesn't have the career of accolades to lean on. He's still young and has a long way to before he can even crack the top 25.

Best 10 players in NBA historyGot to disagree with Kobe and Lebron in favor of Duncan and Hakeem. Why, Duncan is the best PF to ever play the game and he has more finals MVP's and League MVP's than Kobe and More Finals MVP's than Lebron. Hakeem has as many Finals MVP's and League MVP's as Kobe, but he also has 2 Defensive player of the year awards. |

Best 10 players in NBA historyHad to edit the previous post.
Do I really think Elgin Baylor and Jerry West are any better than Dwyane Wade? Definitely. Look I know Russell dominated his day but there were only 8 teams and he had a starting lineup of all HOFers. Would Russell be a superstar in today's game? Doubtful. I'll guarantee he wouldn't win 11 titles. He shot 44% as a big man with an atrocious 56.1% from the FT line. By all accounts he was an amazing rebounder and defender but that doesn't generate much excitement unless you found Mutombo incredibly exciting. but that alone does not make you a superstar otherwise Mutombo would have been considered a superstar. However, the point of my post is that although I do not think Russell was a talent for the ages, he was, along with Wilt, the dominant talent of his age. He rightfully deserves his place among the Top 5 players of all-time because of what he accomplished during his day. |
