Will Muschamp isn't screwing around

Posted on: April 26, 2011 4:01 pm

No idea if he can run an entire team, but Will Muschamp makes me a lot happier than the last guy who coached the Florida Gators.

The last guy, Urban Something-or-Other, allowed his team to be overrun by cretins. Why, Urban one time had a player -- get this -- who texted a woman that it was "time to die" ... and Urban let that misogynist punk play that same season.

Not Will Muschamp. Not even close. Muschamp just booted a kid who had two marijuana arrests in the last two months. And this wasn't any ordinary player. It was star cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

Now, you could argue that being kicked off the team for two non-violent, misdemeanor-level arrests is a harsh fate. And it is. Most schools, I'd listen to the argument that a kid like Janoris Jenkins deserved a third chance.

Florida is not most schools. Florida was a haven for miscreants under Urban, and if Muschamp wanted to change the culture, he had to send a strong message immediately. Pity for him that his first chance to send that message came courtesy of his All-SEC cornerback.

Bully for him that he sent the message anyway.

Did you see the story on CBSSports.com titled "Audit: Iowa should better track recruiting travel"?

I looked at your profile, and you are an Iowa fan.  How very ironic that you told someone else not to "get all high and mighty".

Before you get all high and mighty, try to remember it's one player.  He had no choice but to act or he would have been a laughingstock in the college football world.  Wait until he is consistent on these issues before you start praising his discipline.  Otherwise you will end up a bigger tool than you already are.

Well, Muschamp followed through on his discipline with WR Chris Dunkley too.  Dunkley didn't like it and left; Muschamp basically said "don't let the door hit you in the ...." So in less than 4 months he's already gotten rid of a premier corner and an up and coming WR.  I think he'll follow through with discipline.

Tressel has kicked players off of the team.  And sometimes even for a first offense.  So if muschamp gets praise for this, where was the praise for Tressel?

It was in the email. You did get the email that was forwarded, did'nt you? sorry man, we meant to forward it on to you too. Mybe next time.

Gotta love how an SEC coach tries to do something right and he gets slammed for it, but then again if he does something wrong he gets slammed for it. Sounds like a case of conference envy to me.

I read a post by someone on here about how hard it is to cut loose a top notch player, and he was right, it is hard to get rid of a good player. Its even harder to get rid of a starter on a team you are just taking over. Give the man some credit and quit being such haters. He deserves a small pat on the back for making the right move, not envious haters coming here trashing him for the right move.

Macbrave, You wrote "You will miss Meyers and your lost perch at the TOP".

The correct way to write that sentence is You will miss Meyer and your lost perch at the top. I am actually an English teacher, and YOU are the FOOL who needs some education.  Now go&n
bsp;wipe the egg off of your face and report to detention FOOL!!!

After reading a few of the posts on this thread all I can say is WOW.  Doyel made a comment, a very opininated comment.  Urban Meyer ran a pretty shitty program off the field, and to those of you commenting on its easy to run someone you didnt recruit out the door you are idiots.  Will Muschamp is a great defensive mind, cutting loose one of the better cover corners in the nation if your recruited him or not wasnt easy.  I am by no means a UF fan, I have watched over the last few years as Oklahoma was terrorized by Muschamp's defense every October so I was never even a fan of him either.  I am a fan of college football, and this sends a message to everyone in the locker room at Florida.  Clean your act or clean out your locker, the best defender on the team got dismissed.
